  • High-end restaurant in the Arts District, requiring alcohol, entertainment and dancing CUP and parking Variance

Gary Benjamin, President of Alchemy Planning

Gary has successfully overseen the entitlement and permitting of over 100 diverse development projects, utilizing his vast technical knowledge of local zoning codes and procedures, as well as strong relationships with government agencies and elected offices across LA County. 

Prior to launching Alchemy Planning, Gary served as Director of Planning for a major DTLA-based land use consulting firm. He was also a lead advisor to a current LA City Councilmember on land use and development issues, negotiating development agreements for major projects in the Hollywood, Silver Lake and Echo Park areas, among others. He previously worked within the LA City Planning Department on Downtown LA and West LA land use policy initiatives and is a former member of the Wilshire Center Koreatown Neighborhood Council. He is a graduate of the UCLA Master of Urban and Regional Planning program.
